Last Minute Travel - A Checklist
So it makes sense to have a last minute travel checklist that you can refer to every time you have about an hour to pack your bag and leave.
You have to make sure that things are alright at home, you have to make sure that you have all the necessary documents with you, and you have to make sure that you have packed everything - when it comes to last minute travel, this is easier said than done! First, the documents you need - you will be surprised at how many people actually forget their passports, tickets and visas, in the hurry of last minute travel! If you need health documents to get into the country, you should have them with you, and you should make sure that you carry documents regarding your medical insurance, as well.
Carry enough travelers' cheques with you, and make sure that you have your credit cards, as well.
Carrying the country's currency is also a good idea.
If you have an international driver's license, have it with you, it will come in handy.
It will not be enough to have your medicines with you; you will need to take your prescription with you, in case you need a refill.
Emergency phone numbers are another must - keep a list of them on you.
It is also always advisable to have extra passport photos with you, in case you need them for something or the other.
When you pack, it is always a good idea to take an international plug with you.
Along with your medicines, if you get airsick, take medicine for that, as well.
An all-weather jacket is always a good bet, no matter where you are going.
A sewing kit is another smart option - buttons always come off exactly when you need them to stay on.
Before you leave, make sure that you leave your house key with a friend or relative.
This is easy to skip in the frenzy of last minute travel, but this is important.
Make sure you have somebody to feed your pets or water your plants.
Turn everything off, notify your security company, stop newspaper delivery for a longer trip and milk delivery for any trip, defrost your refrigerator and make arrangements for your mail.
You can do all these things with just a few phone calls or the turn of a knob.
Once you have done all this, you will be all set to leave.
