Childhood Obesity Statistics
The latest statistics show that 3 out of every 10 children have a weight problem. This leads to epidemic proportions.
First question is who is to blame?
Is it the parents fault that every celebration, event and function of our lives composes of feeding our faces with the wrong foods?
The American family sits and eats a well rounded dinner less than 2 times per week compared to a decade ago of 5 times per week. Today's fast paced and constantly on the go families will eat more than 1 million burgers and drink more than 100,000 sodas with sugar and fat content on a daily basis.
Television is no help either with ads promoting food on every commercial is it any wonder that our children are grossly overweight?
These sedentary lifestyles lead to our own children suffering with overweight and under exercised bodies. The affects of overweight and under exercise lifestyle leads to diabetes, hypertension, cancer, heart disease and many other illnesses. These illnesses will impact every aspect of our lives including our workplace and our future workforce.
On Good Morning America a leading doctor even suggest that today's youth could be the first generation that will not outlive their parents.
This is the tragedy of childhood obesity, parents burying their kids.
Is there a solution to this epidemic?
Can we reverse the trend and save our youth from the horrible affects of over eating?
Statistics show that when children get at least 30 minutes of exercise per day, eat a well balanced meal 5 days a week and get a minimum of 6-8 hours of sleep they not only lose weight but also get better grades in school.
So yes there is a solution and it is to slow down and smell the home cooked meals, watch less television and find an exercise that your kids can enjoy and do on a daily basis then we can reverse the overwhelming and horrible childhood obesity statistics that affect us all.
