Manage your time in a responsible way
In life there are easy and hard tasks. There are tasks which are hard to do, and they require more thinking, time and energy. Other tasks are easily done and we often prefer doing those instead of the hard ones. But in most situations it is better to start with the hard tasks, so that when we are tired after finishing them, the easy tasks are left. If we start with the easy we will also get tired with no energy left for the hard tasks afterwards. In that way we postpone the problem to another day.
However this is not only a question of easy and hard tasks. As you postpone the difficulties they will watch over you until you finish them. During this period they will make you tense, unconcentrated and never really able to relax, because you know this is something that should have been done, but you have not done it yet. It is really annoying and capable of ruining days and weeks.
A personal example
I often find myself answering 30 emails a day. Most of these are easy to answer and don't require much brain work. However some emails are harder to answer as I need to look for answers, check my own and the schedule of colleagues and write a long answer. Even though that email is far more important than the easier emails, it is so easy to postpone answering, simply because it requires more work. The problem is only that every time I open my mailbox I see the unanswered email making it impossible to really relax until it's done.
When you work, work!
In today's world it is so easy to get distracted. As we sit in front of the computer with an Internet connection you can easily visit Facebook, just to check what has happened since you last logged on 15 minutes ago. Others just check out the newest movie trailer on YouTube helping you decide what movie to see in cinemas later in the day. There are so many channels fighting for your attention, and if you do not pay attention, you will find most of your working time dissapearing down the drain of social media and instant messages.
It is time for a change! Every minute and hour God has given us is a precious gift, and we need to take good care of it. And that is exactly why it is so important to manage your time in a responsible way.
