How to Clean Shutters
At times you want to keep your shutters clean but the material and or the complicated design of the shutters make it difficult for you to clean them.
So here are some ways to clean your shutters.
It really depends on the material of the shutter when you clean it.
Different materials require different ways of cleaning.
So you need to know about the material of your shutters and then use the appropriate method.
Wooden shutters: wood is a material that can get spoilt or damaged with water so the first thing to remember is that do not get wooden shutters if you live in a wet area; use vacuum cleaner to clean your wooden shutters; dust them regularly because you cannot wash wooden shutters with water or liquid detergent; you can use furniture polish to clean remove the stains on the shutters.
Vinyl shutters: vinyl shutters are very easy to clean; this material is simple to use; you can keep them clean easily.
Use warm water with liquid detergent to clean vinyl shutters.
You might need to use a hose for outside shutter.
Take down the shutter and use sponge and soapy water to clean the shutters from every narrow corner and let it air- dry or use soft cotton cloth; dry properly so that water drops do not leave their marks.
Aluminum shutters: aluminum shutters are not cheap like vinyl but they are easy to clean; you need to keep them clean to maintain their shine and look.
If you clean or dust them regularly, they would not get too dirty and can be easily cleaned.
If you have aluminum shutter then you need to clean them properly after every two years to make them work nicely.
Take off the hinges, remove the stains with dry cloth then clean the stubborn stains with detergent and water; wipe them with a soft cloth in the end; grease the hinges well and then fix them back.
Plastic shutters: plastic shutters are very easy to maintain and clean; if you have good quality plastic shutters then you can easily keep them clean and shining; you can clean it with a damp piece of cloth weekly but if it is too dirty then remove it from the window, wash it with hose, use warm water and detergent or even shampoo and wipe it with dry soft towel in the end.
